The Guardian

• Late Saturday evening, I had the opportunity to watch a phenomenal film, Batman: The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan (Gordon, 2008). The main character in the film made many personal sacrifices. The main character Bruce Wayne or other known as Batman, made it his cause, and in the end, even sacrifices his heroism for another heron, who fell to be a victim exhibiting a case of a bad social experiment, gone wrong (Gordon, 2008). The leader is like the obscene dictator who cannot hide. His or her strength and fear is also the sacrifice to become the villain. The villain who must sacrifice to seek existence in change, therefore, the turmoil is brilliant bestowing his boastful strength, for he is the one who must sacrifice himself for his kin. The Noble Knight is the betterment of the one whom is responsible for the sacrifices necessary for society to remain stable.

Society must win a moral inhibition in the human quality of survival. He or she is the one who we must entrust the hard task and challenge to fall, rather than let society lay adrift to fall to the waste-side. The Guardian is the right person who must be the epitome of the experiment. The Guardian must fall to his or her own destruction. Furthermore, Bruce Wayne is this true depiction of Batman (Gordon, 2008).

Wayne must become more than a hero. Wayne surpasses the mediocrity of heroism, he becomes the beast of subtle defeat. Wayne becomes a beast of peace.

For Bruce Wayne to seek peace at the end of destruction and despair, he must exhume the position of the chase. The Noble Knight for Gotham is the very diversion of truth. However, the equality to believe in Harvey is the symbol of countenance. His countenance is safe within the condition of mentorship.

However, how does mentorship relate to knighthood? What does it mean to be a Knight? How do humans reach a realm of knighthood? Do humans have the capacity to reach brilliance of knighthood? In The Dark Knight (Gordon, 2008), Bruce Wayne was the Guardian who must give himself for the change of hope. Wayne was the search and journey for Gotham.

Rather than the one, we must as Admiral Spock said, “We must sacrifice the one, for the good of the many” (Nimoy, 1984). Even further, the stoic-philosopher Epictetus said, “it is impossible, then, for a person who thinks to be the harm, as it is also impossible to be pleased with the harm itself. For this reason also a farther is reviled by his son, when he gives no part to his son of the things which are considered to be good: and it was of this which made Polynices and Epictetus enemies, the opinion that royal power was good. It is for this reason that the cultivator of the earth evils the gods, for this reason the sailor does, and the merchant, and for this reason those who lose their wives and their children, for where the useful is, there also piety is. Consequently, he who takes care to the desired as he oath and to avoid as he ought, at the same time also cares after piety. But to make libations and to sacrifice and to offer first fruits according to the custom of our fathers, purely and not meanly nor carelessly nor scantly nor above our ability is a thing which belongs to all to do” (Long, 1991, p. 30-31). Epictetus rationalizes the human condition.

As a slave, Epictetus defines that the will of humankind is like the will of the slave to seek his own reality (Long, 1991). Humankind is the student of realism (Long, 2002). Alone, humankind is his own world (Long, 1991). Humankind in his own world is a King, and then to the rest, a slave, similar to the role of Joan of Ark (Long, 1991).

Joan of Ark, deserving of my deepest gratitude is given the significance of what lies within the one, who knew very well she must give herself, for the reputation of King Henry of England (Williamson, 2008). Joan gave herself for King Henry, so Henry could reassemble his peace, courage, and good moral qualities for his French and English people (Williamson, 2008). Although the bond of Harvey and Gotham was the beacon of good moral fiber, Harvey as the King was the beacon of hope for change. Harvey was the beacon of peace; the beacon of sacrifice. Harvey was the sacrifice, the further continuance of the human condition…to embody existence and to protect society.

On a further acknowledgement of Guardianship, we examine two more scenarios. At the case of post 9-11, did Giuliani not in a way fulfill his role? In some manners, Americans instilled a trust in Giuliani the Mayor of New York (Woods, 2007). Giuliani is the eagle of the city, who surveys the city all day flying to protect the citizens and residents of New York City. Secondly, although highly resented for the lack of leadership, was Kathleen Blanco of Louisiana, at the same time brought a newfound strength in defeat? Does defeat personify his human presence?

Blanco urged displaced Louisiana residents to reclaim their land and rekindle your life, new, tis the glory of a metamorphosis of truth. The truth and the will of the human existence and quality to survive were instilled in the character of Bruce Wayne in the screenplay written by Jonathan Nolan (Gordon, 2008). Nolan highlighted the notion of strength and the virtue of fighting to hold fellowship and popularity of the majority (Gordon, 2008). Notwithstanding, he suggested to service the proletariat, to allow the majority to judge and hold blame against a stronger breed. The breeds’ responsible for the actions are built of much more than an Iron Clad Knight, the ability of the Knight has the ability to truly become an integral escape to allow humanity to be the vessel of an apposite realism.

To be an apposing realist one must also be a Guardian. A Guardian is one who is also a human vessel of fellowship in wisdom. The Guardian is the embodiment of splendor or innocence of society, and so as it is the pupil. The Guardian and teacher is Bruce Wayne. In this instance Wayne defines a peculiarity in society by how society with its need for safety, restructures according to its new own morality. The morality of the Guardian is present when good is redefined, thus is why reality exists.

For Wayne, the morality is Harvey who fought endlessly to bring down the mafia and slumlords of the city (Gordon, 2008). For Bruce it was Harvey who stood up to protect Batman (Gordon, 2008). Batman is who Harvey knew that Gotham needed, him, to survive and ensure the bad brethren would be defeated, for Harvey was the Knight for Bruce (Gordon, 2008).

Bruce viewed Harvey as a true man. Harvey is the man Bruce could never be, since he is much more than “Bruce Wayne,” his ultimate platform is “Batman” (Gordon, 2008). Batman in the end must do what he must to protect the innocence of Harvey, who acts in an emotional rage (Gordon, 2008). He reacts in rage rather than alarming his true safe and simple nature to express negative elements, the treacherous water of love and hate are the acceptable dynamic pair of Harvey and Wayne in the movie the Dark Knight by Jonathan Nolan (Gordon, 2008).
