Carry Smith "I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood." Today georgians remember MLK: the strength of his battle, the glory of his triumph and the Love of the US to change a nation. The fight ...is not over, fight racism and prejudice. Stand up n let ur voice be heard!:)

I disagree with that ignorant statement. I am from a white community and went to an historically black college. I would say that racism bwtn the two are equal, depending on the comfort level of both communities and cultures. Funny you mention white people are less racist than blacks. Blacks are more accepting of me than whites. Whites in my ... See Moreexperience desire conformity and assimilation more into their cultural trends. While blacks from my experience values diversity and communication more with people of different value systems and characters. From whites' I have experienced racism on the basis of income, region, dialect and religion. While, I have experienced racism from blacks. The racsim I expierienced from blacks, was only cultural, but eventually perished when they would see past my skin and look at my heart. I see it as equal. Both are fitting of growth and education. To say one is more than the other requires more analysis and authors. I think it is best to say that we still need to learn how to bridge diversity, by learning to openly accept our differences, whereby we value our individuality and allow our differences to flourish. Institutionalized prejudice still exists in our system. Don't just think about race, also contemplate gender. Don't be so ethnocentric. Read a book by W. E. Debois and open your mind.

I have no comment on whom is more racist than the other. I only wanted to state that I remember the day that my first sergeant asked my immediate supervisor/sergeant why he had not given me an opportunity to go to the promotion board. His answer to my first sergeant was that I had not prepared myself (which was a lie if I'd ever heard one). Seconds... See More after my first sergeant had left our office he turned on me and told me that he didn't care how ready I was, he would never promote my "white ass". When I went to our EO representative (a black man) I was told that I couldn't make a complaint on racism because I was a white man. My point not being that either a white or a black man is any more racist than the other. My only point is that with our history being what it is, a black man can get away with being a racist whereas a white man is not so inclined to. I am not assuming that you will respond by calling me ignorant, racist, or have any other ill words to speak of me. However, if you do decide to do so please remember that I grew up where you did. Remember that I have seen the world. I've been to college and met everyone from the aspiring politician to the crack dealer, rather they be white, black, or any other color. As well I am part of one of the most politically correct and incorrect organizations in the world. I can tell you without a doubt in my mind and without a care in the world that anyone would try and correct me...the white man, however slight and unnoticeable it may be has become the victim of society in our nation today. It's not black society's fault. It is our own fault. We have bent over backwards and tried so hard to make things right. Sometimes it has come at our own expense. We have made it socially acceptable to ourselves to have to own up while allowing others to place blaim.

I don't have any opinions or ideas past what I said. I hold no ill will toward any man. I was only commenting on the sad state of our idealism.

As far as being where we are from, and you want to correct history or try to correct me, know your history first. Irish immigrants and indians lived in our region. Mountainous areas of the southeastern Appalachian mountains were historically not equipped for farm land, so many did not own slaves. Nor did they (immigrants) have the finances to ... See Moreafford them. Those that did may have owned one or two house servants. It's very likely though that if they do and u check your own blood line, you have black somewhere in your family. And who is less than the one percent and which region are you talking. Why I said this discussion needs further analysis. If you are to provide stats, I must see the proof. Which organization provides the data. Secondly, historically racism in our home did not start until there were fights of property in the early 19th century, and blacks were moved out by the KKK that is documented well. Although, racism does not exit there today, it is still a very homogeneous community with a 5.5 to 2 percent minority pop according to census population estimates.

Note on al sharptan and jesse jackson, they are actually addressing concerns of black community. Have u ever lived in inner city, near the central market place. Slums where african american single women can't find help, but can not get it with antiquated polices that have them living in poverty. Well as a student of urban planning who wrote a thesis on spatial mismatch and disconnection of minority or black populations to getto job, jesse and sharptan have done a lot for the community and speaks on behalf of those communities that can't help themselves. That's why they do what they do, to get help and speak out as servants and peacemakers for the populations they advocate for. They influence politicians and lobbyists to change policies to include minorities, not go against them. Try to understand that the next time you hear them speak. I reference the documentary of hurricane katrina with spike lee. Go back and watch that film and get a new opinion about al sharptan and jesse. If it was not for them to speak out, blacks would have been even more of a victim. In fact, they raised awareness of community for blacks and social capital. What they did was motivate them as patrons to evoke change themselves, to relocate or rebuild and seek a new start for themselves and their families.

Ok, now are we not placing blame, by saying we have bent over backwards and tried to mend historical wrongs. When we address the fact of blacks and whites, saying one is greater than the other, and white men are offended as society paints them, "the white devil," in the first forum you have the chance to call out blacks and paint them racists. Is ... See Morethere not prejudice in those statements that do not offer substantial support. I provide this counter claim that blacks as well as whites are degraded by prejudice that exists on either side. Notice when I speak of prejudice myself I reference many from whites, but not that of race. But let us go back and the many incidents of school violence where young african men were convicted wrongfully and persecuted for acts of later found to been by their white peers. How about troy davis. Watch the movie, whitewash, by a man who was said to rape and kill a women and was wrongfully convicted and tried because he was black. A white man convicted him.later evidence by a black lawyer freed him. Racial and cultural prejudice still exists today. Proof is there, research and you will see.

The only way to stop those opinions and criticisms are to change our own. To not be so eager to object to those; they are justified to feel the way they do. we need to learn humiliation is a better merit of self control. The best method to change the future path between blacks n whites, is to understand and work with them, rather than against them... See More. "The confederate resistance," today could be the hold on outdated stereotypes and the need to formulate a connection between the communities to create culturally mixed communities, where we value diversity and not assimilate into a majority who does things one way. We have this city model more heterogeneous in nature of many major cites, hell it exists in atlanta. But even here, they are areas that are off limits based on income and gates. We must integrate and not segregate. Urban planners, architects and civil engineers love mixed use housing because it brings a level of community and enthusiasm to diversity and connect people let us spread this city model to rural and more suburban environments.

I appreciate cody's very valid comment. It's very hard to discredit personal experience, especially the politics of the "beast." The military is another animal I have no experience with. Politicians although I do. Crack dealers that to. While we say white or black, I think it is fair to see that in both regards black men and white have become both ... See Morevictims to their environment, as both are misconstrued. White men who are stereotyped as originally prejudice to seek terms of influence and power in a traditional good ole boy system. While, blacks are trapped in illegal drug trades and an injustice, justice system. Both requires help and better understanding. Mlk had a thought provoking dream, that little black boys and girls would be able to play with little white girls and boys. Physically we are desegregated, but how do we mentally, emotionally and systematically change idealism to provoke connection in diversity? Im sorry its what we are doing now, communication, education and open mindness to learn and provoke the change we need OUR SELVES, BOTH WHITE N BLACK. Create a new social structure, accept people of all backgrounds and origins. Don't discredit them. teach them. allow a comfort in loving and valuing those differences. Allow ur heart to shine, the message through action is met with influence and integrity. Words are nothing, when actions can change all.let us end on a positive note. God help us to understand the prejudice and racism that plagues out nation today.let us act in a way to create positive change through understanding and education, rather than violence and hate. Connect us, let us. love one another. Let us overcome the wrongs of our past and learn through humiliation, the incurable disease of hate.. we can overcome and love our neighbors rather than hate. God helps us to see the prosperity in change and harness a message of love in every person, community and segment of our nation. In jesus name.AMEN.

Now back to jesse and sharptan again before u try to be a wrecking ball that has no target or direct course, look for a statement that will actually ruin my argument. Again you fall short. Sharptan and jesse are retired by the way, they don't need money or negativity. They do what they do because they believe in prosperity and connecting black ... See Morecommunity with resource to help them grow. Again read a few excerpts from their book. Do some great and vast soul searching on the iron grip of hate for blacks around your heart. Funny how you offer the bible with hate after I offer a positive prayer. Let,"THE GOOD BOOK," lead ur heart, rather than your racist mind.

Are you just angry and hate black people? Cause you offer statements that only offer hate and negativity with no found resolution. Or are you just angry that you still have get to offer evidence to offer validity for your bad rebuttals. Now, you are just digging a whole and making an ass out of yourself for the sake of arguing. Before you say I do ... See Morenot know the Bible, but yet I do. Moses and his wife were married. They were in an interracial marriage. Are we to hate that? No, my friend, the Bible teaches us to love no color, but to love one another. The Bible has nothing and everything to do with this. Of course we cannot have a Shangrila until Jesus's second coming. However, our jobs as christians is to seek out peace and save others and help those that cannot help themselves. You always seem to fall short of that humility every time you offer a hate rebuttal, that is merely always an invalid argument to everything, peacefully I post. You judge in a negative way, without positive christian elements. Who brought republican party into this discussion. You just threw that out there without any substantial conclusion, other than, "the republican party has no black people and does not like them." Jacobs, look and research your history. In the mid 19th to early 20th century there was a shift in the republican party. The party who was originally much like the democratic party was disturbed with the Johnson administration and issues of reconstruction and fiscal spending. The once liberal republican party shifted, while members left and went over to the democratic party. This resulted with a conservative republican party, and a new liberal democratic party that was once conservative.

Honey, when you say, "slave blood," remember most of us are descendants from africa, immigrants from Europe and have somewhere probably, have black in you. So you as well as, I, are not completely white. We at some point are the descendants of slaves, rather from Egypt, africa or wherever. However, enough of that tangent. I don't think that its ... See Moreabout money or retribution. The confederacy and ill planning during reconstruction stems, its remnants of problems we have today. Take Katrina victims and their vouchers. Any people that has not had money before and gets a multitude, may misuse it. It's human nature. But, we can't discredit an entire ethnicity or race because of it. Jacobs, Obama's better connection to the Black community, than Whites comes from cultural norms and influence. He connected more with the Black community than White, because many White's ostracized him. He feels more connected with being a Black man, although he is mixed, because he was branded one growing-up. You should read his book, " AN Audacity of Hope." You could internalize his message, he projects to the World in his Campaign CHANGE, which is what we all do. OBAMA brought together people of all background and creeds. He connected the rich and the poor, black and white, gay and heterosexual, cross-dressers and libertarians. But what he did not do, is send out prejudice or hate. Hell, he has his now frenemy, or his opponent as his Secretary of STate. May I mention as a Hillraiser, she is doing a kick ass job. My point is, the solution is not about retribution. It's about the now. The investigation of an acknowledgment to the human spirit. to love and embrace one another. If one more Justin Temberlake or white man did this, rather than resort to hate messaging to argue why black people are disenabling white men in the modern world, we could in fact get somewhere. We can not go forward with the mentality of the victim. You internalize too much. The virtuous are those that can spit change of honor and integrity to love. For to love is to learn how to again, desegregate our minds, as well as, we are physically are today. Now please, sir I bid you farewell in this most interesting discussion and challenge you to have, 'an audacity of hope,' to desegregate your mind from fond retribution and rewards. Seek the later, forgiveness, and connect to peace!:)

Jacobs I'm afraid you are not kidding and just a total dumb ass. And its a black college or university. Savannah is the oldest HBCU in the state. SSU didn't brainwash me. Made me socially aware. Crackers or the N...word is so disrespectful. I would never utilize anyone in such an ignorant capacity. Jesus is black, was he white or either? Was he any... See More or all!?I believe in GOd. You are so random. Enjoy your ignorance and backward illusions. Christians are liberal also. You say you joke, but you seem to be fueled by complete ignorance and just hate.study where humanity began, whether biblical or evolutionary, research proves humanity started in africa.Duh! Whether black or white, we all came from two that started it all. That we can at least agree on. Adam and eve. Ok after this I'm deleting your dumb ass comments. For someone who seems to be kidding, I keep striking a cord. Anyway have a nice day.
